  • how to trim and cut your own hair?

Posted by admin on December 10th, 2009 and filed under trim your own hair | 3 Comments »

well i want to grow my hair really long and at the moment its just past my shoulder’s. i have stopped straightening it and blow drying it for about 3 months now and already i can So such a difference to my hair, its much thicker and healthier.i have a couple of questions to ask.

1- how long will it take me to grow my hair if i only straighten it 2/3 times a week. (mainly weekends)

2-how do you trim and cut your own Hair because i know to make it grow fast and healthy you have to trim it but to be honest my parents cant afford to keep giving me money. so i want to learn how to cut my own hair and keep it healthy, i have cut my own side fringe a couple of times and to be honest i think im quite good at cutting hair so i want to learn how to cut my own.

3- is there anything you can eat or take to make your hair grow faster and longer. or could i put anything on my hair to make it healthier.

    thanks

I seriously DON’T suggest it. My mother used to do it, and it never ended up well. As per the other questions, I wouldn’t know, I’m waiting deperately for my hair to grow longer too, the only advice I’ve heard is not to use elastic bands which are bare elastic ’cause they rip the hair and not to use paddle brushes for the same reason. I guess its mainly be gentle with it.. Hope that answered at least one of your questions!

Why not to cut your own hair.

Does anybody know a way I can trim my own hair?

I would go to a salon but I really can’t afford it, I’ve got to spend all my money on xmas lol.

Don’t. if you need a trim go to a salon and ask for a trainee. the cut is always done under supervision. I am a hairdresser and I wouldn’t dream of cutting my own hair. Where are you? I would do it for you.

How do you trim your own hair and cut bangs?

Posted by admin on December 5th, 2009 and filed under trim your own hair | 3 Comments »

All I want to do is trim the ends of my hair and cut my bangs again because they’ve grown out. I want to do it myself (or have my sister do it for me) without it turning out to be a mess.

The problem: My hair is waist-length, thick, layered, and very curly. Eventually, I want to get it cut shorter by a professional, but at the moment all I want is a trim and some long side bangs.

Obviously, I won’t use a chainsaw or kitchen shears, and I won’t let my littlest sister cut it for me, but what kind of advice do you have?

What must I do and what must I avoid? Thanks.

I can sympathize because my hair is just like yours. I tried to cut it myself. All I did was make a scissor formation with my fingers and took lock by lock and cut it as precise as I can. Long story short, it ended in disaster. What I recommend is getting it straightened and getting a 2nd party to do it (which you already are). Do not do it while it’s wet, which if you’re anything like me, will result in it being more curly and therefore more uneven. If you can though, go professional.

Is there a way to trim one’s own hair without it looking bad?

I need to trim my hair, but no one I know can do it, and I cannot afford to go to get it done (I’ve never even been to a salon or the barber or anything. My mom used to do it for me, but we live in different cities now).

I would like to do it myself, but i don’t want it to look bad

    Trying to save money eh?..
It shouldnt cost anymore than 10 dollars to do that.
    :]
and I wouldnt attempt it because its really easy to mess it up.
    Just..try saving up

What is the safest way to trim my own hair?

Posted by admin on November 26th, 2009 and filed under trim your own hair | 8 Comments »

I have split ends all over from flat ironing. I need a trim desperately but I don’t have the money. The only pair of scissors I have are the big chunky ones for cutting paper. My hair is longish, it’s about to the middle of my chest, and it has layers. What is the safest way to trim it?

Find a cheap place to give you a simple trim… dont risk doing it yourself, especially if you have layers in your hair. Go to the salon with your hair already washed. It should save you a couple dollars if they are not washing it for you.

Your last DIY attempt resulted in a hole (okay, tunnel) from the bathroom to the bedroom and a local shortage on caulk.

But before you vow to never try anything by yourself again, check out our new series of how-to videos aptly entitled Easy Does It.

First up: Hairstylist Julie Dickson, owner of Fox & Boy salon in NYC, shows us how to trim our own bangs. We know, we know, taking scissors to your mane seems pretty cray cray, but we promise its easier than it seems, not to mention recession friendly.

As an added bonus, Dickson shows us the perfect way to tame our post-ocean coif in a looks-like-a-professional-did-it kind of way.

So prepare to be called a liar.

To submit questions youd like us to answer in our next Easy Does It video, e-mail easydoesit@dailycandy.com. Feel free to ask us anything (anything!).

Is it possible to trim your own hair…?

Posted by admin on November 24th, 2009 and filed under trim your own hair | 10 Comments »

I have long hair which is fine and naturally straight. I only make it to the salon every 4 or 5 months to get it trimmed and I practically have to plan my whole day around it. Does anyone know how to trim their own hair, even if it’s just a little bit to keep the split ends under control? Thanks!

Well, you can but if you have straight fine hair, it is way easier to see a mess up. Plus if you have layers it is way harder. I just say go to one of those places like great clips or something….One of the walk in places. For a trim it is pretty cheap and they can do it quik. But if you are getting like a total new hair cut…go to a better hair salon
