Thats what happened to my son when he was 4 yrs old i cut his hair and his curls disappeared. he has straight hair now.
my 8yr old son has straight hair now and my 2yr old son has long curly hair alot of people say i should cut it but i love his springy curly hair. What do u think i should do?

I am not sure but I did the same thing and my sons curls never returned either, I have a 11 month old and refuse to cut those curls!!

I want to have all my hair cut off and was wondering how close clippers can cut. Do some types cut closer than others?
I wear wigs a lot so I don’t really care how my own hair looks. I think shaving it all off would be wild and sexy.

Your basic, mid-range cost hair trimmer will cut hair almost too short to see it.

For a super-close, bald cut, though, id reccomend a razor, though I’ve heard that this can cause some of the hair folicles not to grow back.

As I get older, I’m beginning to lose my hair. Instead of paying $20 every two to three weeks, I would like to buy hair clipper and have my wife cut my hair (she has no experience). I don’t want an army cut, I just prefer to keep it a shorter length.

When I get my hair cut, I thought I had them use a 3 inch clip, but after going to the store and looking at hair clippers, I don’t see one that length. Am I mistaken? Is it pretty easy to use?

Anything else I would need to know before having her do this?

There is not 3 inch clipper guard. There is a number three.

Clipper guards go by 1/8th of an inch. A 1 is 1/8th, a 2 is 1/4, a 3 is 3/8ths, and so on. If you just get a buzz (same all over), it’s not hard, she’ll just have to go over it a few times. If there is a fade involved, It’s way harder. She should go with you once or twice to see how the hairdresser does it. Trimming around the edges (you need a separate machine, a ‘trimmer’ for this) is hard to learn without any experience.

Wahl actually makes a "balding" clipper … cuts nearly razor close. You can find it at Sally Beauty Supply.

The top hair is graduated in length longer to the front hairline. My guess is from about 1.75" at the front hairline to about 0.8" at the back of the crown. In addition it appears as if the outer part of the hair shafts on top have been texturized either clipper over comb where the clipper is fitted with a skip tooth blade or blending shears over comb. The sides are also not cut one length but tapered from about 3/8" at the upper sides to about 1/8" at the lower sides. Essentially th only cuts that are uniform in length on top and cut with the clipper guard pressed to the scalp are burr, butch and brush cuts. A burr is simply a butch cut at 1/8" or less on top and a brush cut is a butch cut at 1/2" or longer on top.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.

Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.
