I’ve been cutting my hair on my own since I was seven (I’ve never gotten my hair done), and since I’ve never had layers, I thought I’d cut some for school this year. I’m pretty good at cutting my bangs, so I don’t need help with that, and I know how to actually cut it, but I don’t know how I separate the different layers before I cut them… so, would anyone be willing to tell me how to separate them? Thank you in advance!
It’s hard to explain step-by-step. That would be pretty risky.
Try watching this video VERY CAREFULLY. And remember, no dramatic differences in layer length. It’s possible to mess up.

I just got my haircut the other day, and while I do want to keep the length, I don’t want to have the completely straight look. My hair is pretty long for a guy, but it is all one length which makes it hard to give it that textured look.
Would it be possible to go back to the hairstylist and ask her to cut layers into my hair without making it look overall shorter?
Yup, layering allows you to have a more styled hairstyle in my opinion without losing the length. However, be aware that layers do add more volume (puffy hair) if you have alot of hair. If you don’t have this problem, then you should be okay.

I used to have kind of short hair with short layers, that were kind of choppy. I really liked it! But my hair grew out and I don’t have layers that are short anymore. I don’t really want to pay like 50 bucks just to get some layers in my hair, so do you know how to cut layers? Or have any online tutorials?
Thanks a bunch!
Oh I wont mess it up badly! I’ve cut my hair loads of times, just not layers.
i dont recommend it because you can mess up but if you absoulutly have to….
