  • do hairdressers get mad when you cut your hair at home yourself?

Posted by admin on January 8th, 2010 and filed under hair cut at home | 16 Comments »

so i have a friend who is really good at cutting hair, and she cuts her own (she layers it, trims it, and even layers it herself.) it looks so great that i’ve even had her to my hair a few times, and it always looks amazing. but when i went in to get my hair professionally cut i felt kind of uncomfortable because i felt as if the hairdresser knew my hair hadn’t been cut professionally. it’s not like my hair looked like it had been done by someone who had no idea what they were doing, it was just that i think it could have possibly been kind of uneven. i loved having my friend cut my hair because i feel much more comfortable telling her exactly what i want, i feel weird making a hairdresser re-do things because they don’t turn out like i would want them to. the obvious answer would be to just keep letting my friend do my hair, right? but the problem is that now i’ve started to get my hair professionally dyed, and so my hairdresser can still see my hair up close. also, i don’t know if i’ll never go to the salon to get my hair cut ever again, i probably will.

so do hairdressers like get mad or upset when hair is obviously not done professionally, (especially if they are cutting it and they feel like they have to ‘fix it’) or do they not even care at all?

i totally feel what yer saying !
    im thinking the same thing
mine asked me once and i told her my friend did it
and shes like yeah you probably shouldn’t let her again
    but my hair looked good…
    hah
but yeah they notice but sometimes they say things sometimes they don’t.

I was lazy to take my son for haircut outside ,so I deceided to do it my self, result is terrible and I am very shy to take him outside or let any one meet him .What should I do ?

get it fixed by a professional, most salons offer very cheap hair cuts for kids 12$ or under.

How to cut scene/indie layered hair at home?

Kind of like Hayley from Paramore and Cassadee from Hey Monday.

    With side fringe.

Last time I tried, it failed. So I’m hoping to get some tips on this. Thanks :)
Edit: I mean like where is it meant to be short and where should it be longer. I need to also be able to wear it normally to school without spraying it and stuff.

I tried the hairdressers once, didn’t work out :|

I recommend first straightening your hair.
This will give you an idea on where your hair will fall.

Take a blunt (IT MUST BE BLUNT.. .Make sure it’s been used for shaving your legs and has been used a bit before doing this. Otherwise you’ll chop it off in chunks.) razor and take a chunk of hair here and there and just start stroking the ends with the razor, as if you were actually shaving it. It give your a piecey, disheveled edge to your ends. : ]

should i cut my hair at home or go to a hairdresser?

i want to have emo hair
[if your gonna say "why'd you do that" STFU and deal with it]
anyway, i want to do it at by myself to have more of my style and uniqueness but im afraid to ruin it
and they say a hairdresser wont get itand it wont be what you want
    what shoudl i do?

Hmm I wouldnt trust myself because you would have to do the back too and i dont think you would be able to see it. What i did when i got "scene hair" is i went to the hairdresser, but i printed out pictures as a reference on what it should come out looking, and described how i wanted my own little twist in it. Then when i went home i did the extensions and little details she missed by myself.

So yah i guess it’s half and half.
    Hope that helped :D

When you go for a "in home" hair cut or waxing, should you leave a tip like in the salon?

In home: meaning one lady has her own business in her basement.

The rule was that you tip the employee not the boss, so if the owner cared for you, you didn’t have to tip
    However,
I don’t tip because I am expected to, I tip for good service
    It’s up to you
    or it should be
